I consider Jacobs Dream as one of the most important bands in heavy/power metal genre. The band now is planning to bring out on November 10,2009, a new release titled "Beneath The Shadows ", that means a new begining with the new label (Retroactive Records). We are in the side of them in this new begining, so we got the change to chat with vocalist Chaz Bond (one of the greatest metal vocalists for my tastes) about reborn Jacobs Dream....

1.    Are you satisfied with the final result of your upcoming album "Beneath The Shadows"?

Yes, actually I am very satisfied.  I personally feel that it is the best album I have ever been a part of to date.

2.    Is there something could be better?

For the first time since I' ve been a member of Jacobs Dream I can truely say that I have nothing that I would have liked to see different.

3.    Whats your expectations through this release?

I feel that this might be Jacobs Dream's finest hour.  My hope is that the fans will embrace this album and hopefully get something out of it in a possitive way for their lives.  I hope that the lyrics of the story will uplift and inspire those who listen to it.

4.    Your previous album "Dominion of darkness" was a self financed release. So how did you came with this hard decision?

After the contract was fullfilled with "Metal Blade Records" we just took a vote and ended up going Indie for one album.  It was just something some of the guys wanted to try.

5.    Really how did it sell?

I dont really pay much attention to that but I do know that it didnt get out to the public the way it should have.  This was one of the reasons we signed with a new label.

6.    Are there any plans for a major release of it, as I think there are a lot of people who are looking for it?

We are considering re mixing our last album.  It is possible that our new label could re-release it which is something I would be all for.

7.    Are you satisfied with your new label?

So far we are very happy with how things have gone up to this point.  It is nice to work with a label that actually enjoys listening to it's own bands.

8.    I think that the new album is a concept? Can you speak us about the main idea behind this?

The new album is based on a single character who ends up getting lost in a life of selling and using drugs.  This causes him to loose his family.  His best friend dies from an overdose why getting high with him.  He ends up searching for answers beyond himself to free him from his addiction and now guilt filled life.  It is a very dramatic and moving story that will blow you away emotionally.


9.    How do you think to support "Beneath The Shadows"?

Our label "Retroactive Records" will take care of everything.  We just need to make music and play concerts.


10.    This must be the fifth full length of your career? Comparing with the previous ones where is better and where is worst "Beneath The Shadows"?

I really do believe that this is our best album so far.  The second best might be the first one but I like the last three just about as much as the first.


11.    With hand on heart whats your point for the new album (perfect is 10)?

Well if I am truely honest I will still say a 10 for "Beneath The Shadows".  The last album might get a 7 or an 8.  This one gets the 10.


12.    How important is the band for your life?

For me it is a very high priority.  My family and God are just about the only things that I place above what I do in this life.


13.    Is there something special behind the band name Jacobs Dream?

No not really.  The guys chose the name during a vote.  Nothing really special about it other trhan somone thought it sounded good.


14.    Do you live from the music?

No.  I wish I did but it is difficult to do these days when people are stealing your music a thousand times over on the internet.


15.    Whats your philosophy like a person?

I just believe that there is a God and that there is a purpose for this life we live.  I believe that people should treat one another as they want to be treated.  I also believe that you should never take those who love you for granted.  That is one of the saddest problems that plague people these days.

16.    Your future plans?

I will do this as long as God calls me to do it.  Other than that I just want to be the best husband and father that I can be.


17.    Anything for the end?
